Photographs that changed the world around you. Part- I

There are photographs that leave you influenced beyond comprehension. The adeptness and the virtual explanation of ‘A photograph can speak a thousand words’ comes alive take you in unarmed. I present my collection of 10 photographs over two parts and I hope you like it. Give all of them a moment on you so that you come to appreciate why it finds a place in the list. I would certainly like to know what you would add on to it in your list of photographs that changed your world as you know it to be.

# The first photograph in the world

Taken as early as 1839 by Louis Daguerre, this photograph is of a wall, a chimney and a rooftop. Though not clear to be appreciated, this is in-fact the world’s first photograph. It is from where everything started. It a photo-sensitive plate a sheet of pewter coated in a mixture of bitumen, dissolved in lavender oil. Though not taken from a proper camera, it leads to invention of the daguerreotype, the first camera able to take photographs.

#Pleading for Mercy

This photograph of a man pleading for mercy from a mob hell bent on killing everyone in sight made the whole world stand up and realize how barbaric we become in our inflamed passions.

# Nagasaki Atom Bomb Mushroom Cloud

Though this was much appreciated by Americans at the end of the war, it has later on come to symbolize what we never want to see again.

#Tiananmen Square Defiance

The image of a solitary man standing in front of four armed tanks became a lasting image of the attempt to convert China to democracy. The image made people around living in Democracies realizes how good the world has been to them and how much the rest of the non-democratic world wants it.

#Breaking of the Berlin Wall

It not only meant breaking of a wall, it meant much more. Two years down the line USSR disintegrated effectively ending the Cold war. The threat of an always looming nuclear war receded to the level that the world became a better place to live in.

I really loved your Football Post too, but i don't think Baichung Bhutia is one among the top ten or even 20 footballers.

    1. As I already replied to a comment over there, Baichung Bhutia has been pioneering football in a country with a substandard football team. He's better than a lot of players who keep on raking moolah even after retirement.
